More On Palin's Saks Scandal

Piper911"…It was during this same campaign cycle that Republicans belittled the $400 haircut that former Sen. John Edwards had paid for with his own campaign money (the funds were later reimbursed). And yet, the comparison to that once-dominant news story is hardly close: if Edwards had gotten one of his legendary haircuts every singe week, it would still take him 7.2 years to spend what Palin has spent. Palin has received the equivalent of $2,500 in clothes per day…." from: Palin Clothes Spending Has Dems Salivating, Republicans Disgusted (Stein/Huff Post)

Palin was sad to see the Washington insiders go. Hanson recalled, “She said, ‘Hey—does anyone want to stay for dinner? We’re going to eat right now.’ She also invited everyone to come back the next day. ‘If any of you are in the area, all you have to do is knock. Yell upstairs, I’ll be right down.’ ” from: The Insiders: How John McCain came to pick Sarah Palin. (Jane Mayer/The New Yorker)

Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business. — from AP INVESTIGATION: Palin children traveled on state (AP)

In its coverage of the Palin clothing expense story, I was struck by this photo Huffington Post included in its featured slideshow. It shows Piper Palin toting Mom's LV bag — unless it's Piper's! To really appreciate the image, however, you have to also know it was shot on September 11.

The BAG's take:

1. Again, Palin kids end up carrying the family baggage.

2. Keeping up with the Joneses?

3. … Or, another oil-and-gas politician?

4. McCain's not Bush? Looks like 9/11 still equals "go shopping."

5. And, talking family values, I still don't understand why Piper hasn't been in school this year.
