FOX: Egypt Set Upon By Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

From what I’ve observed of America’s far right, the democracy movement in Egypt has largely been met with a deafening silence.

Following our previous post about the tendency to see events and images in Egypt through a more Christian lens, there was this oddity posted on the FOX nation site yesterday. Here’s the copy that went with the clip:

This is an incredible piece of video. At the 1:20 mark you clearly see some greenish figure moving through the crowd. Between the crowds of protesters and barricades, the video shows a flowing, pale green image that resembles an erect rider atop a horse in Medieval-like barding. The ethereal figure remains for a few moments before floating over protesters’ heads and off the screen.

Is this the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse?”

Considering the tape and the hateful/fantastical association (though not fantastical at all in the political sense), this has little to do with whether the tape was doctored or it’s explanable (perhaps someone running with a flag?).  Instead, the main point here is that FOX a.) picks out an almost week-old video clip casting the democracy protesters as anarchists solely based on the chaos that broke out after they were attacked by government thugs, and, more obviously b.) cast “the whole lot of them,” and this dark and hellish scene , as a harbinger — playing to FOX’s fundy audience — of the end of days.
