Un-suit-able

Headphones may have protected Rick Santorum from hearing a supporter’s exhortation to “pretend” his target was President Obama, but his campaign appearance at a Louisiana shooting range in the midst of outrage over the death of Trayvon Martin shows a sort of tone deafness no protective headgear would have engendered.

There is also the strangeness of taking to the range: Santorum in a business suit with his back to us makes little sense and heightens the anonymity (especially after constructing a Mr. Rogers-style identity around that sweater vest). As dark as this Pawlenty version was amateurish, instead of a tough-guy demonstration we see another candidate lacking aim for politics at this high a level.
