The Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Friend, Except On Tuesdays

A dominant theme in the press lately has been the shifting ethnic and tribal alliances in Iraq, and how this reality makes it impossible to define what we’re doing, let alone tell if we’re “winning or losing.” The administration always like to break things down according to who is wearing the white hat and who is wearing the black hat. As in Afghanistan, however, people in Iraq seem to have closets full of hats. Especially these days.

This cartoon, by KAL (Kevin Kallaugher) is part of the Witness And Response collection, which consists of images acquired by the Library of Congress in memory of 9/11.
