Obama’s Shoulder

I’m not sure whether you’ve seen this picture. The caption reads:

Stephanie Miller of Sandusky Ohio cries on the shoulder of U.S. President Barack Obama at a campaign event at Washington Park in Sandusky, Ohio July 5, 2012. Miller’s sister died of cancer and said that Obama’s healthcare plan would have given her better treatment options.

As someone said to me yesterday, she couldn’t see Romney in a picture like this in a million years. Yes, but it brings up a point about Obama, too. As much as we’ve seen the President full of passion, mostly during critical speeches, he’s more cerebral and even a little  impatient the rest of the time. I do find the moment touching and believe Obama truly can be a comforting presence, but I think it really takes something (or someone) to pull it out of him.
