Congratulations

The BAG congratulates The Huffington Post as winner of The ’06 Webby Award and Webby People’s Voice Award for Best Political Blog.  In less than a year, HuffPo has burst out of the gate, done almost everything right, and has had a substantial impact in the political and new media sphere.

Of course, I’m proud to have been a finalist alongside Arianna, and I am now even more proud of my regular feature — “Reading The Pictures” — on the Huffington Post blog.

If you’ll indulge me, its been quite a ride the past month or so.  I’m completely indebted to family and friends, and especially to The BAG readership — a thoughtful, insightful and growing community which has been thoroughly supportive of, and completely intrinsic to this mission.

You and I have also come a long way in a short time.  Many people in media, government, advocacy and academia are tracking The BAG.  As a collective, we are having a definite impact on the appreciation, understanding and even use of political images.  Accolades are nice, but that’s what I call really winning.
